Got here about 6 pm tonight. Left Cape Girardeau about 8:30 am, with our son, Cameron, riding with us. He had flown down from Marengo to Cape Girardeau Saturday to be at the Memorial Service for his cousin Jenn. He could have driven faster than the Cedar Rapids, IA to Chicago, IL to St. Louis, MO to Cape Girardeau flights, but was suffering from severe cold/sinus trouble and didn't want to drive with some of the medication he was on.
It was a memorial service, as Jenn was cremated. There were nearly 100 people at the somewhat informal gathering. Here is link to Jenn's Obit CLICK HERE
My brother, Don, talked with most of all of the people though many were friends of his daughter that he had not met before. Most stayed for visiting for some time after.
Eating a meal at Don's place. They have two little dogs and one was a real beggar!
We stayed in an apartment in "the big house" which is part of the big complex connected to the house Don's live in. By being a member of this they are guaranteed space in the house they now live, independent living, assisted living, nursing home which are all located as part of "the big house" A few apartments are available to be any relatives or friends of members for use. We were there 8 nights.
We had spent most of our days with Jenn in the nursing home she was in under hospice care. Her last three hours were a terrible struggle for breath.

It is cold here and snow forecast overnight. We haven't seen snow fall, or been in fresh snow since December of 2008 and are not looking forward to this. We will leave early in the morning for the 4.5 hour drive to Clarinda and hopefully get the Shopsmith and all it's attachments disassembled and loaded in the pickup so we can head out early Monday morning going south to avoid any snow. There is a snowstorm/blizzard forecast by Wednesday for Nebraska and moving east so we need to get south. I do not like cold or snow any more.
Later, Lynn
