40º with intermittent hard rain here at Kerrville, TX at 8 pm. 4.2" has fallen already and to continue through the night. We had called ahead and gotten reservation at an RV place that is on the river and when we got there it was raining and they stopped us at the gate and said they were evacuating their park account the rain. They directed us to a KOA park not too far away and on high ground. Was raining heavy as we parked and got soaked hooking up electricity and Cable TV line. Rain pounding on the roof for the last 2.5 hours since we got here. Just read story on flooding of RV Park upriver from us a few miles (We drove by the town this afternoon) last week where 4 people drowned and 1 has not been found yet --
Was raining lightly when we left Van Horn, TX this morning about 9:30 am -- all those mornings up before 5 am at the Balloon Festival finally caught up with us. Leaving I noticed the 32º on the dash. We drove in light mist most of the morning and then heavy rain later in the afternoon.

Very hard winds earlier and then when we turned southeast
we had wind behind us - really improved gas mileage! |
Plan on leaving here in the morning and making it to our home in Kenwood RV in La Feria tomorrow afternoon.
Picture I copied out of our home-town paper, the Clarinda Herald Journal. The Methodist church we had attended from 1970 until last year when the new one was built, has been torn down.
