Lots of rain in southwest Iowa

67º with clear skies in Clarinda, IA at 6:18 pm Friday.  First day of sun for a while.  Had almost consistent rain for last three days.

Earthworms were huddled against the outside of the garage door -- getting away from the very wet dirt in the lawn

 .

I took the earthworms back out into the middle of the lawn.  Since it is drying some now maybe they can get back in the dirt and not drown.

For the first time in ever, Phyllis cut the peonies down in the fall.

Photo at right is of a bunch, probably 8, big turky buzzards, or something like that, circling the house the other day.  They were above the railroad ground behind the house.  Not sure what was down there.

Last Saturday we went to Shenandaoh and watched the Shenfest Parade.  Weather was very overcast, but held off to rain about the time the parade was finished.  Patty Steckelberg was with us and went out to eat supper at Mondo's afterwards.

Parade was about an hour long and quite a variety.  Essex school band did not come because of the weather forecast.  Several other bands and lots of cars with politicians, queens, alumni, etc.

But not a horse in this parade.  Imagine weather forecast was reason.  It did rain most of the evening.

Got the lawn mowed today.  I had put out a lot of grass seed before this last bout of rain.  Put dirt down, seed, then more dirt all along the front next to the curb.  There is grass coming up there today as well as in a lot of the bare spots I seeded out in the lawn.

Here is link to my Paint By Numbers album Click HERE                        I have added quite a few this last week.

More some other time.  LCM
