Days 7-8 to Texas - Oct 4-5

71º here in Pensacola, FL at 6:00 am Friday.  Predicted high today 87º.
Hurricane Nate predicted to be west of here on Sunday with only 36 mph winds in this area.
Lot of small houses on the narrow road
We left Stan Runyan's about 10:30 am on Thursday and drove mostly back roads, taking a diagonal route south-east towards Pensacola.
Drove probably 50 mile on little roads with no traffic

Out on to 4-lane road

Entering Alabama
At Mobile AL we went under the Mobile River in the George Wallace Tunnel

In to Florida on I 10

Got to Pensacola RV Park about 5 pm
Checked in and set up here.  Hurricane Nate is predicted to go to the west of this area on Sunday.  We are filling the black, grey and fresh water tanks (for a little ballast) and we are away from trees if wind is up - predicted to be in the mid 30 mph here.

On Wednesday we had driven Stan's car and he went with us from near Wesson, MS to New Orleans to his son Lloyd's place.  Stan's wife Ann was not feeling well and did not go along.  Lloyd runs a Limousine Service and tour company from his house.

I took photo of Lloyd and his wife Melissa along with one of her boys, and Stan.  Melissa has three boys from a previous marriage.

Their house is in a quiet neighborhood in Kenner, LA - west of
New Orleans

After meeting Melissa and seeing a bit of their house, Lloyd took us in his Cadillac SUV Limousine on a city tour of New Orleans

This is quite a cemetery, dating back many years and with mostly above-ground tombs.

Lloyd took us on a 3-4 hour tour of New Orleans, including a terrific lunch break at a little out-of-the way eatery where we had Char-grilled oysters as an appetizer.  I had an Alligator sausage Po-Boy.
We both had sea food Gumbo.

Driving through the French Quarters, saw several "unusual" things.

We had eaten here with our kids in 1977

Several "street entertainers" in the French Quarter

Took many photos, but hard to show and explain here.  We are getting ready to head to brother Darrell's in Leesburg, FL.  Write later, Lynn
