Iowa to Texas - Day 4

60 Degrees here in Kirksville, MO at 7:45 pm -- and DARK

Spent enjoyable time in Marceline, MO at
Walt Disney Boyhood Museum.
Walt Disney was born in Chicago, but lived in Marceline, MO from age 5 years to 10 years old.  He was on a farm and introduced to all the squirrels, rabbits, pigs (he rode one fat hog) chickens, calves, deer, etc. that he started drawing and later made part of his stories.  Was very interesting.  He died at age 65, mostly due to his excessive smoking, but had been in touch with Marceline about 10 years previous to his death where he made contact with local people when dedicating a swimming pool in his name.  The lady who did an introductory tour met Walt and Roy Disney and she and her husband bought the original 40 acres that the Disney boys had lived on and then re-sold it to Walt Disney for preservation.

We stopped in Hamilton, MO and toured the small J. C. Penny Museum
I had not realized he did his store business so many years ago.  He started
back around the 1902 era in the mountain area of Wyoming and Colorado.
He died in 1971 at the age of 95.
Early this morning we ate breakfast with Harold & LaRhoada Nehere on their
farm near Hiawatha, KS and left their place about 8:45 am
We got to an RV Park in northwest Kirksville, MO about 4:15 pm today and went out to supper with our granddaughter Emily and her friend Vince.

Will meat with Emily again in the morning before we head south to Cape Girardeau, MO.

Later, Lynn
