Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to friends & family

69º with bright sunshine here in La Feria, TX at 1:15 pm on Wednesday.  Click on photos to enlarge.

Looks like I haven't posted in a while.  These photos are from our attending Christmas Eve service with Darlene Winslow and we met at the church two of our park neighbors Bill & Teresa Van Onen from Ontario, Canada.  They are in photo below.

We had attended the combined church service at First Methodist Church of Harlingen in the morning.  The 9 am and 11 am services were combined in one.  We did sing in the choir at that service.

After church Sunday morning we went to La Feria Cafe where I had a Burrito Plate with Carne Guisada (Stewed beef), served with rice & beans
It was delicious, but huge -- Photo at left, and that is a BIG plate.  I had three more meals off it after eating a portion at the Cafe.   Will order this again, but we will split one.

Joe, the Veggie Man, had a good turn out for his really fresh vegetables.

Had 50-some residents gather for Christmas Dinner Monday Noon.  (Some argue it was Lunch, but for me noon is Dinner and evening is Supper--lunch is something mid-afternoon that was brought out to the hay field or ranch when we were working cattle)

Park management provided turkey, ham, potatoes and gravy and the residents brought side dishes, which cover the two tables in photo at left.

At left is framed colored drawing made by Cody Haar in our park. He presented it to Phyllis before the Christmas Dinner.  He is a 32 year old special needs kid that visits his parents for several weeks around Christmas.  He does excellent drawings with his colored pencils.  He will be leaving in a few weeks, flying back to his folks place in  Bowdle, South Dakota where an uncle will oversee him.  He has a part time job cleaning in an office building that also occupies his time.

Played a couple games of Shuffleboard Tuesday before we went to barbershop chorus practice.  The man on the left in the phot is Cody that was referred to above.

Photo at left

was taken yesterday after I gathered the flowers in that vase from our back yard.

As you can see in the photo at right, I guess I can get a 5th wheel and pull it without removing the cover off the back of our pickup.

Later, Lynn
