On our cruise !

77º here at 23º37.24' N, 075º07.00' W -- moving 139º at 14.1 knots at 10:17 Eastern Time, having left Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas about 5 pm this afternoon.  Tonight we turn our clocks back another hour.

We had full day getting to Fort Lauderdale Wednesday.  Judy Cronoger and Maxine Koch (sisters) picked us up at our place in Kenwood just before 4 am and had us at the Harlingen Airport early.

Had short time in Houston and quite a distance to travel to change planes, including riding a tram- made it with about 10 minutes to spare!

Taxi ride from airport to the ship dock was $25, but had been approached at the airport by people wanting to take us for $19 each.

Anyway, got through customs check-in and had to wait a while before they started loading, but got on board, to our 3rd floor room and then up to eat lunch around 3 pm.

Had time to explore some of the ship and when our one checked bag arrived we put most things away in our room for this 16 day journey.  We weren't able to find where we had put all of the items right away, but think we have about gotten situated now.

Today we spent time at Half Moon Cay, which is an island owned by our ship line -Holland America - and walked up the beach bare footed in the water/sand.  Walked around quite a bit away from the beach also; eating lunch brought from the ship while there.

Have many photos, but I am somewhat restricted on this satellite WIF (Even at $29.99 per 24 hours) so will not post a lot here.
We got a real good lunch served by the ship crew, and got to eat it at picnic tables while chickens walked around our feet -- including one hen with 5 chicks.
The gal came by just after this photo and offered to do some braiding -- of "very tiny braids"

Could of had fresh chicken, I guess, with our luncheon.

This guy, with the big back pack, didn't leave a lot of room for walking behind him.

Taken from the beach at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.

Riding on the tender from the ship to Half Moon Cay

Took a break while walking along the beach.

Anyway, didn't write before, with the high price of the WIFI.  Hope to check on a couple more times during our trip.  Tonight, after supper, we went to a movie - "The Art of Racing in the Rain"  -  Great movie -- from the perspective of a dog.  Michelle, I want you to see it, if at all possible.

Have taken tons of photos - may catch up with some of them when we are back home and unlimited WIFI.  Of course, we have no phone connection either.  In case of emergency, imagine you could contact Holland America and refer to The Rotterdam ship.  Hopefully no emergencies.

Later, Lynn
