Glenn Miller Festival nearly over

75º and bright sunshine in Clarinda, Iowa at 7:00 am Sunday morning.
We have been working at the High School Ushering, assisting wherever needed, all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Got a little break this morning as we only work two programs after lunch today.
Above is photo of the combined Des Moines Symphony with the Glenn Miller Orchestra from their 4:30 pm performance Saturday afternoon.

They played to a full house
in the gymnasium.  They usually performed
in the Auditorium, but there was not enough floor space on the stage.

Much of the seats in the upper area were filled.

Earlier we had ushered for a performance by the Tamana Girls High School Band.  Not nearly the crowd, but they put on a great show and sound
every bit as good as the professional bands.

At right is photo of a gentleman from London, England and one of our ushers Norma Thompson.  The man is a retired Rolls Royce Chauffeur, said he drove for many people over the years and never had to buy one.  Quite a fellow and quite talkative about comparing US and England.

This is the Glenn Miller Orchestra performing in the Auditorium Friday.

Meinself with the authoritative Usher badge.

Hallelujah Singers with the Swing Esquire Orchestra ... They wore these coats, simulating Tuxedos while singing Tuxedo Junction.  The coats are from the Inn and Spa owned by the man in the center (he is 15th generation to own the business in Tokyo)

Sales of items to support fund raising for people of the April, 2016, Earthquake in the area of the Tamana, Japan people.  Though the school did not suffer damage, several homes of some students were damaged, and businesses of some of the parents of the girls were damaged.

Basket was passed during the Air Force Band concert on the city square on Thursday night and was available during several of their concerts.  Money was presented to their band leader for turning over to the people in Japan.
Kumomoto is the capitol city of Kumamoto Prefecture, and is near the city Tamana.  Kumomoto suffered much more damage.

Several volunteers manned the welcome/information table
by the main entrance.

Tamana girls with their last number included dancing and singing about the earth quake.

Will help with ushering at the
girls last performance this afternoon.  They are some 70 in number, in addition to chaperones and interpreters.  They performed at a place in Washington State just before coming to Clarinda this year.

I am going to try to upload some videos I took at the Festival to You Tube and link them here.
