Three more weeks here

70ยบ overcast with a cool north breeze at 1:20 pm in La Feria, TX.  "Cool" front just came through and changed wind from east to north.  To go to a fish fry here in the park in a bit, will be nice with no hot sun beating down on us.  Quite a few units have left the park.  Starting to look a little like when we got here in October.  We have finally mapped out our trip home - leave here the 2nd of April and get to Clarinda April 8th.  Seeing several friends and a few sights, including a drive thru safari.

Had to deliver something down to the hall during the quilting time Thursday and took a couple photos.  Several of the ladies have left so not too big group.

Went with neighbors Marian and Ardell Finken and Darlene Winslow to the La Feria American Legion Club for tenderloins and then back to our place for a game of Manipulation.

Saw this picture on the internet and brought back memories of our trip to Crater Lake in Oregon in 2013.

Our 58th!

72 degrees at 8:10 pm this Wednesday with 14 mph winds.  Bright sunny day with winds in the 27 to 35 mph for most of the day.  Was 83 degrees for high today and same forecast for tomorrow with same winds.

Today is the 58th anniversary of our Wedding day in 1963.

We went out to eat at Bar-B-Cuties Smokehouse (CLICK HERE)   in Pharr, TX mid-afternoon after making a run to Progreso, Tamilupas, Mexico for some meds.

Attended practice of Men of A-Chord barbershop practice yesterday in Mission, TX - 15 total.  Only 3 more practices this year!

Sunny, windy day in the Valley

73 degrees with lots of wind here at Kenwood at 9:20 am on Tuesday morning. Click photos to enlarge.

This weekend did a lot more trimming of frozen bushes/cactus in back yard.

Bobbi's lemon bush

doesn't look too good.

This pic doesn't show the bright pink of these
flowers - just two - in back yard.

Guess I didn't get a picture of this plant just before she trimmed it, but it had turned completely brown and drooping.

Waiting for bug man. Even though he set up to come yesterday to do 7 units here, he didn't come and said, when called, that he thought it was Tuesday.  Hoping he gets here soon as we must leave by shortly after noon to go to Barbershop Chorus practice.

3 weeks till heading north

7:00 pm.  Was up to about 70 during the day with cloudy until mid-afternoon.  Click on photos to enlarge.

Not a lot going on this last week.

Today is Doris Winter's birthday
and we are going to pick her up and
go out to eat and visit in the afternoon tomorrow.
Usually celebrate her birthday and
Harold Neher's, which is Sunday,
together; however, Harold is still
up in Kansas so we will do the
best we can.

Since we were a week into building up immunity from our 2nd Coronavirus shot, we went to our first Men of A-Chord barbershop chorus practice for the 20-21 year.  They had 2 practices before, 6 attending the first and 11 the 2nd.  We were part of 13 at this practice.  Will have 3 more before the break for the summer.

After dropping off Bob Weise and Denny Hill at Snow to Sun RV Park we went to Nana's for our supper.

Spent much of Wednesday getting new cell phones and getting info transferred to new ones.  Also switched carriers.  T-Mobile has a senior plan which is quite a bit less than we had been on with Verizon.  Verizon also has a senior plan, but only applies to residents of Florida!  With T-Mobile's unlimited data we will not have to be buying extra when we travel as we have had to do.

Friday we were in San Benito for a regular check-up with doctor and were only a short distance from the Longhorn Cattle Company Barbeque, which we had not been to this year, so had supper there.

They have a new logo on their building; used to be a stick drawing of a steer.

This is a close-up picture
of the Palm Bush showing
the damage from the freeze.

This afternoon I cut back the Palm Brush and

the  bougainvillea plant beside it.

With only 3 weeks until we will head north, starting to plan our route and several stops.  Also, having the house treated for pests Monday and have 6 other places lined up for the Pest Control man to treat.  Several trailers and motor homes have left and a few of the people in permanent places are making plans to head north.

I will add this photo from 10 years ago that I put on Facebook recently from the "memories" that they brought up.  So many people in this photo not in the park this year.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( The composition teacher asked the class to write about an unusual event that happened during the past week. Little Johnny got up and read his essay. It began, "Daddy fell into the well last week..."  "My goodness!" the teacher exclaimed. "Is he all right?"  "He must be," said the boy. "He stopped yelling for help yesterday."

First of March!

59ยบ with misty rain falling here in Kenwood at 2:00 pm Monday.  Shut off the A/C - had run it over the weekend -- reached 90ยบ yesterday and close to that Saturday and Friday.  Changeable weather, that is for sure!  As usual, click on photos to enlarge.

Discovered that water running off
roof of the house was causing rot
on window casing on Texas Room.
So, fashioned a short awning
over it - see if it will help.

This is on roof over Texas Room where
old awning meets new awning (9 years ago)
and added some rubber caulk to avoid leak.

Decided to look on
my Kindle to see
books I have -- was
amazed.  Always
download free ones
of non-fiction.  Have
read several of these
but have many to go.

Am reading on two different hard-back books as well as keeping one going on Kindle.  Going to have to bear down more to catch up on those above that I haven't read.

Till next time, Lynn
