82 degrees and very windy here in Clarinda, IA at 6:30 pm Saturday. Watched Iowa State football team get beaten earlier and with 5 minutes left in the Nebraska game, think they are going to win.

We went up to the square in Clarinda about 8:30 this morning and watched the parade for Band Day here in Clarinda.

I have been cutting trees on the farm nearly every day. At right is the one tree that I wanted to get for sure, but when I went down yesterday to work on it I discovered it was one of the real thorny ones that is mean to work with.
Yesterday I cut it back like shown at left and then cut a ring of the bark and treated it with Tordon RTU to kill it. When the crop is out I will have about 5 of these to try to fell out into the field and cut up. It may have to wait until next April when we return from the South.
Visited the local Can Redemption Center and got a few bucks for the few cans and bottles with deposits on them turned in.
Sometimes I had a bit of the longer branches fall into the beans. I cut them into smaller pieces before moving them so did not disturb the soybeans any.
I probably won't work with the trees this week. I get my left wrist operated on this next Friday for Carpal Tunnel and with the trees it seems like I am always getting my arms scratched and sometimes have a bit of a rash, so will avoid those so I don't get rejected to do the surgery. They are very careful about anything that may cause an infection. Though, I had this done some 35 or 40 years ago and had quite a scar, this surgeon showed me how I would have two tiny scars, less than a half-inch each this time
