Hot and windy in the Rio Grande Valley

90º with "feel like" of 93º and 18 mph wind at 3:45 pm Saturday afternoon in La Feria, TX.  We just shut the windows yesterday and have the air conditioner running.

Stopped for lunch at Nana's Taqueria on
way back from Progreso, MX
the other day.  Brightly
painted wall by their
outdoor dining area.
Came by these topless ones when we went
to DonWes flea market for some Veggies from Joe

Went over to McAllen last Saturday
to shop for a new recliner at the
Lazyboy store.  The really, really
old one here was getting pretty
rickety.
New one in place Wednesday

New chair works!

This chair was here when we bought the mobile home 11 years ago and think it may have been here many years before then.

Picture of the flower
pot with new paint
on it.

This shelf needed extended a little longer and support added.  Painted and loaded up with libations.

Joe, the Veggie Man made his first stop for the year.  We got celery, carrots, cabbage, lettuce, pineapple, watermelon, radishes, cucumbers, avocados, so are set for a few days.

Last week I trimmed the cactus and bushes on our side of the fence.  The other day I drove around to the outside of the fence and took a bunch of cactus.  These cactus, if they fall on the ground, will put down roots in a week or so and grow new plants.

These many spiney cactuses are all from
a potted one that a neighbor left when
he moved out about 8 years ago.

On one of the recent trips to Mexico I took pictures of the jugs they poke up through the rails of the bridge on long poles.  A few people do put money in them.

Here is shot of the people who holler all the time for money and hold up the poles with jugs.

Two large areas of ground were built up behind us and to the west when we got here 2.5 weeks ago.  They started surveying it this week and started digging for footings for the apartment buildings we are told will be built.

There are tentative plans for some of the people in the park to gather someplace outside for Thanksgiving.  Though the recreation hall is open during office hours only, even then no more than 10 people are allowed inside.  Of course, with face masks and social distancing when inside.  They will not allow the kitchen to be used, or food sharing in the hall.  Probably good thing with the Covid-19 still being very active in the US.

This entire area in Texas is mandated for masks whenever you are out in public and signs at every store entrance that no admittance without face coverings.  No activities are going on and none planned for the foreseeable future, though Phyllis has been told the quilting can be done starting in December -- if they have no food in the hall, have no more than 10 people, wear face masks at all times and keep their distance.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( You know your getting older when...

1. You and your teeth don't sleep together.
2. Your try to straighten out the wrinkles in your socks and discover you aren't wearing any.

3. At the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you're not eating cereal.

4. Your back goes out but you stay home.

5. When you wake up looking like your driver's license picture.

6. It takes two tries to get up from the couch.

7. When your idea of a night out is sitting on the patio.

8. When happy hour is a nap.

9. When you're on vacation and your energy runs out before your money does..

10. When you say something to your kids that your mother said to you and you always hated it.

11. When all you want for your birthday is to not be reminded of your age.

12. When you step off a curb and look down one more time to make sure the street is still there.

13. Your idea of weight lifting is standing up.

14. It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.

15. Your memory is shorter and your complaining lasts longer.

16. Your address book has mostly names that start with Dr.

17. You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going.

18. The pharmacist has become your new best friend.

19. Getting 'lucky' means you found your car in the parking lot.

20. The twinkle in your eye is merely a reflection from the sun on your bifocals.

21. It takes twice as long - to look half as good.

22. Everything hurts, and what doesn't hurt - doesn't work.

23. You look for your glasses for half an hour and they were on your head the whole time.

24. You sink your teeth into a steak - and they stay there.

25. You give up all your bad habits and still don't feel good.

26. You have more patience, but it is actually that you just don't care anymore.

27. You finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart.

28. You wonder how you could be over the hill when you don't even remember being on top of it.
