Busy day at the fair yesterday and 350 mile drive today

Woke up this morning near West Branch, Michigan - will wake up tomorrow morning in Pishtago, Wisconsin.  Drove some 345 miles today up to and across Mackinac Bridge and right along the north and northwest edge of Lake Michigan, ending up in Pishtago, Wisconsin at Badger Park.
Took this of the GPS afater we had been on the road a while.

Yesterday was a full day - ate breakfast at Darlene Winslow's then she went to the Ogemaw County Fair, which  is just a mile from their house - a 100 acres in the middle of a wooded tract of land.  She has been on the board for years and still handles all the awards and ribbons being awarded during the fair.  We drove into West Branch, got 10 cents each for our pop cans at Walmart and picked up a few groceries.  Then went to the fair.  Darlene watched us eat lunch at the fair (she and the Board had a dinner date with Mr. Arnold  later on.  We happened to eat our stromboli later that evening at the carnival and found ourselves sitting with Mr. Arnold of  Arnold Amusements, that has the huge carnival at the fair and has been there for the last 40 years.  He shared some information with us.  He has some 147 trucks to transport all the rides and all the food units as they move around.  They winter in Florida and spend much of their summer in Michigan.  He said it cost over $87,000 to move everyone from Florida to Michigan each year; including wages, gasoline, permits, tires, etc.  He had mostly Mexicans working (some 80) and never had any trouble with them.  He did have high turnover in other help that got on as most of them didn't want to work.  We didn't inquire if they were US citizens or not..
We shared a salad while visiting with Darlene.

One of the many rides.

Arnold's sign over the new entryway
The new entryway, replacing a 36-year old one, was dedicated yesterday to Bill Winslow.  He passed away last October and was one of the original people of Ogemaw County who came out to this wooded area 40 years ago and carved out what was to become the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds.
Double-sided sign hanging in the entryway
