Funeral in Independence, MO

Nice day today.  Here is forecast for Stratford, IA just south of Fort Dodge, Iowa, where we intend to be camping Thursday night through Saturday night at a Bluegrass Festival.  Likes like some chance of rain some days.  Temperature not to get above the 80's, so should be okay.  All of the entertainment is at stages in a park so we will be outside all the time, it looks like.

Rose given Phyllis by Ed Stanger
this morning at his wife Kay's funeral

We drove to Independence, Missouri, today to attend funeral of Kay Stanger.  She and her husband, Ed, have been at Kenwood RV Park every winter in the last 10 years we have gone south.  She was sick this last winter and spent much of her time in their trailer, flying home a little early in the spring.  She got a little better, but then worse and died last Sunday.  She was a very nice, friendly lady.

Humidity dropped Thursday and we ate on the deck

Our "Iowa summer snow" -- the prolific cottonwood seeds
are floating everywhere, including on the back deck.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  A jock and a geek applying for the same job. The boss said, Boys, you need to take a test before you can get this job. So they took the test and the next day they came back to see who the boss chose. Well, he said, Both of you got the same score except I’m going to choose the geek. The jock complained, Don’t you think that is prejudice or something? Well, the boss said, Let me tell you what happened. Both of your papers were right all the way through until the last question came up, and the geek answered I don’t know, and then when I looked at your paper, you answered, Me either.

It was the middle of the night. Suddenly there was a loud rapping on the doctor’s door, followed by a groan. The doctor angrily thrust his head out of the window. “WELL?” he shouted.
“No,” moaned the man. “Sick.”

Q: How does a lion greet the other animals in the field?
A: 'Pleased to eat you.'!

“The man that pointed out the burning building was a fire distinguisher.”

One day two blind men started fighting.  Pretty soon a crowd surrounded them.  Then one of the members of the crowd yelled out "I bet 10 bucks on the one with the knife" and with that both men turned and quickly ran away.
