Little weekend drive

Well, we drove 300+ miles north Saturday morning to have lunch with cousin Donna and her husband Maynard Weiting in Watertown, South Dakota.

Visiting after lunch - Maynaard, Phyllis & Donna

Saying goodbye to Donna a little after 3 pm.
Visited for some 3 hours and Maynard, who is having major health issues, was kind of wearing down - so we left and drove some 215 miles south to Norfolk, NE to have a sleep-over with Phyllis' cousin Gwen (Runyan) Stanley.

Though I didn't get a picture, Gwen's son John, who lives in the basement apartment, had breakfast with us, also.
Bought gasoline for less than $2 in Norfolk (actually $1.999) and again in Omaha at Costco.
We drove in some rain Sunday but no storm.  Stopped at couple places to do some shopping in Omaha and were at our house about 3:30.  I actually started this blog then, but we left to walk over to the Ice House Restaurant before 5:00 pm to a gathering for a surprise Birthday Party for Mary Damman.  She will actually turn 80 sometime in August, but her granddaughter, unknownst to her, arrived on a military leave and wouldn't be here in August.  Over 60 people gathered -- 30-some were square dancers -- of course many of Mary's relatives and lots of visiting.
Mary was surprised by the party and also at the arrival
of her granddaughter

Lots of 4th of July stuff going on in the area, fireworks here in Clarinda after the A's baseball game tonight and the big annual celebration tomorrow at New Market, IA.  Haven't been there for many years and think we will go over in the morning -- they always have a big parade mid morning
Till next time, Lynn
Don't wait, do it now!
