More cold and rain

LaFeria, TX - 61º with rain.
Has been a bit chilly.  Of course that is relative to what we want - realize it is still warmer than many places up north!
At Meet & Greet last Thursday.  "Gomer" is on other side of table.  He is to perform Sunday evening with his wife Patsy.

Photos from Bean-Bag Baseball last Thursday evening.

Getting ready for Choir Practice Friday morning.

For lunch Friday we went with Bob & Bobbi Raab and Bill & Darlene Winslow to eat at the Las Vegas Mexican Restaurant in Harlingen.

Helen and Lee Miles, from Elmwood, IL were heading down the street from their place west of us, heading towards the Rec Hall.

Saturday was Harold Neher's birthday and Friday had been Doris Winter's birthday.  We, Nehers and Raabs met the Winters at Rudy's "Country Store" and BBQ in Pharr, TX for lunch. Click HERE for their website

Then we went to Country Palms RV Park in San Juan, Texas to Lyle & Doris' unit and played Pegs & Jokers.  Was almost 70 degrees and with little wind and an occasional bit of sun was not too bad.

However, the sun quit making it's occasional showing, and the breeze came up.  We got all the caps we had in our truck and everyone put on their jackets.

LaRhoda had brought Carrot cake to celebrate both Harold's birthday that day and Doris' the day before.  We had that with coffee (Harold didn't have coffee) and then opened birthday cards for both.

Josie joined us for a bit.

This morning, just before Church Service at the Rec Hall.

Rev. Ernest Baker ended the service with singing while his wife Evelin accompanied him on the piano.

While corned beef and cabbage were cooking for lunch today (and it raining outside) Phyllis continued working on the quilt she is doing for LaRhoda.

The blocks are all original handkerchiefs, folded.

Took this of the Texas Room today.  Yesterday, before we headed to Pharr, I had put the header in for the french doors and the one window that will be on the front.  The siding above and below the window and above the door area are scraps, just to give a semblance of the finished look.

Phyllis had planted these two tomato plants late last October.  With all the rainy, cloudy weather they have not done the best.  Finally had two tomatoes turning red.....and the Mocking Birds poked holes in them!  Got some netting scraps from neighbor Ardel and covered them.  Hopefully, if we ever get sun (to rain most of the next 10 days) we might get some tomatoes off them.

Though I don't have the west wall of the Texas Room finished, it is all enclosed and I can work on the inside and the front--which is under the carport--during the inclement weather upcoming.

Till later, Lynn
