Bridal Shower Weekend

79º overcast with a rain that just went through -- very muggy -- in Clarinda, IA at 2:30 pm Tuesday.

Last Friday we took the travel trailer and drove to Winterset, IA where we got rid of almost $20 worth of pop cans at a recycling place, then proceeded to Des Moines, stopping at Costco for gas and then had one of Phyllis' hearing aids worked on and got the famous Costco foot-long hot dog & drink for $3.16 total, including tax for the both of us..

On to Sudbury Motel & Campground in Marengo, IA.  Set up trailer and then back to Cam & Pat's place where Granddaughter Emily, Granddaughter Ashley with husband Heath and kids Jessica and David were.  Also, friend of Emily's, Joy from Bowling Green, KY was there; she will be Emily's Bridesmaid in her September wedding.  Patty, Ashley, Joy, & Emily were working on getting their place ready for the Bridal Shower the next day on Saturday.  Pictured at left are the ladies from Phyllis' side of the family.
Photo at right is of the Miles & Baze families.  These photos were in the afternoon when almost 20 women gathered for the shower.  Patty's sister Pam, from Kansas and her sister Jenny from Omaha were there as well as Pam's two daughters and two granddaughters from Omaha.
At left are sisters Ashley, Emily, with Joy (bridesmaid) and Ashley's daughter Jessica.

In photo at right is Emily with her future Mother-In-Law on the left and Grandmother-In-Law on the right.

To avoid attending the "ladies only" event, I and son Cam went to Cedar Rapids for lunch then to a movie -- first time I have been in a movie house for 15 or 20 years--where we saw the very sobering movie Sound of Freedom.  It closely follows a true story of children being kidnapped and forced to be sex slaves.
This crime is in the top three list of crimes worldwide, expecting to exceed drug crimes
as the most serious.   See it if you have a chance.  Theater had leather recliners--first for me.

Following three pictures are from
pizza supper Friday evening.

Saturday afternoon Cam spent time with the three young girls at the swing from tree in their back yard.

Saturday evening making Taco Salads.

We returned to Clarinda Sunday where I mowed the yard and found another billion Cottonwood seeds!

More later, LC

"Paint" by numbers - on the smartphone

Recent weeks I got into several apps of paint by numbers and Phyllis also picked up on it.  Our phones are tied together, so saved pictures...
