81º outside the ship - here at Progreso, on northwest corner of the Yucatan peninsula, air conditioned where I am at a buffet. Many passengers getting off the ship for the day, including Patty & Phyllis.
Took some more photos yesterday, but Phyllis took the camera with her and I forgot to switch out the SD Card. Will put them in later.
Listened to the music program of the GoldWing Express and 3 others from 4 pm to 6 pm and then ate in the big dining area. Afterwards we spent some time in the Ivanho Theater watching some game show. The younger generation gets excited over odd things. Seems like old age is setting in.
Which reminds me, saw on KMALand.com that Jerry Joens died in Texas. He and wife Shirley moved there to be near their son last summer. Jerry had several strokes. We intended to visit them on the way down last fall, but that didn't work out. Jerry was 86. We were friends since 1970 when we started going to the Methodist Church in Clarinda - he sat by me in the choir all those years in the Tenor section until last summer.
Guess we are all one day closer to our death today than we were yesterday.
GROANER’S CORNER:(( Negotiations between union members and their employer were at an impasse. The union denied that their workers were flagrantly abusing the sick-leave provisions set out by their contract. One morning at the bargaining table, the company's chief negotiator held aloft the morning edition of the newspaper, "This man," he announced, "called in sick yesterday!" There on the sports page, was a photo of the supposedly ill employee, who had just won a local golf tournament with an excellent score. A union negotiator broke the silence in the room. "Wow!" he said. "Just think of the score he could have had if he wasn't sick!"
Later, Lynn
