Getting ready to head to Galveston

60º here in La Feria, TX at 10:15 am Saturday as I start this.  Overcast and cool.  We are getting packed and ready to leave for Galveston tomorrow right after church service and I don't know if I will be posting anything once we get on the ship Monday.  As I recall, it has to run through the ship's service and is quite expensive -- will see.
As usual, click on pictures to enlarge.

Found some more photos from our visit to Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, TX......  I believe the guide told us at one point that they spend $300,000 per month on feed for all their animals at the zoo and are always looking for donations, etc.
Rhinoceros - they described how the horn is made up of material much like hair or fingernail - and many of them are killed just so they can cut off the horn, which is ground up into powder and sold for many crazy reasons - mostly in the near east.

The one tortoise that is thought to be over 100 years old.

I am feeding two tortoises stalks of celery

Camel behind that rock.

Enjoyed our visit with Lynn & Jan Frye, eating at the Mexican food place in south Weslaco and then visiting a bit in their 5-th wheel which is parked for the month at the Llano Grande Resort Click HERE to see their park before heading home last night before 8 pm.
Breakfast at the hall this morning, then a run to Santa Rosa so Phyllis could pick up a complimentary ticket to some meals to be in the drawing at the March 2 event here in the park.  Now washing clothes, packing and be ready to roll at 10:30 am for the 400 mile drive to the Motel in Galveston for tomorrow night and then on to the ship by noon on Monday.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  On their way to get married, a young Catholic couple is involved in a fatal car accident.  The couple find themselves sitting outside the Pearly Gates waiting for St. Peter to process them into Heaven.  While waiting, they begin to wonder: Could they possibly get married in Heaven?  When St. Peter showed up, they asked him. St. Peter said, ‘I don’t know. This is the first time anyone has asked. Let me go find out,’ and he leaves.  The couple sat and waited, and waited. Two months passed and the couple are still waiting. While waiting, they began to wonder what would happen if it didn’t work out; could you get a divorce in heaven.  After yet another month, St. Peter finally returns, looking somewhat bedraggled. ‘Yes,’ he informs the couple, ‘you can get married in Heaven.’  ‘Great!’ said the couple, ‘But we were just wondering, what if things don’t work out? Could we also get a divorce in Heaven?’  St. Peter, red-faced with anger, slammed his clipboard onto the ground. ‘What’s wrong?’ asked the frightened couple.
‘OH, COME ON!’, St. Peter shouted, ‘It took me three months to find a priest up here! Do you have any idea how long it’ll take me to find a lawyer?
