Christmas 2020

61º here in La Feria, TX at 11 am Friday.  Was 33º at 3 am when I visited the bathroom.  Forecast for high is 70º later in the day.

Yesterday I cut some flowers from the 3 different bushes across the street and just to the east.  Set up 3 vases in the house and one on shelf just outside kitchen window.

Had trouble with my cell phone this week and found a repair place in Harlingen.  Stopped at drive-thru of Chick-FilA after picking up the repaired phone.  These two photos were taken as we drove west back home afterward.  Sky was filled with color.

Daily hammering some 40 feet behind the house.  They deliver cement, or boards at 4:30 each morning and work until nearly dark.  With today being Christmas,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,no noise back there now!

Note the plate in this elevator that shows the maximum weight allowed...............

Yup, a taller eight!

With no gatherings in the Rec Hall this year due to Covid-19, we are eating at home, with Darlene Winslow joining us.

Last week Neal & Carol Haar from South Dakota arrived to their permanent on the south side.  2 days ago   Ray and Nancy Koss from Michigan arrived at their permanent on 2nd south street.

Must include photo from Facebook of our Great Granddaughter Jessica.

Merry Christmas to my few (5 to 10) readers.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( The Smith family was very proud that their ancestors had come over on the Mayflower, so they hired best-selling author Frank McCourt to look up and write a book about their family history.  Horror of horrors! They discovered that great uncle Fess had died in the electric chair for committing a murder. They were devastated. They didn't want that in the book, but they didn't want to leave him out either. McCourt said, "Leave it to me."  When the book came out, the section about Uncle Fess read like this:  "He was a man who occupied a great seat. He was attached to his position very firmly. His death came as a great shock."
