In Iowa again

Well has been some time since I made a post.  12:00 Noon right now and I am in the basement of our Clarinda, IA home at my desk.  Is 57º outside with overcast and occasional showers.  By contrast, it is 91º at our La Feria, TX home.

In the 10 years we have been going to Texas for the winter, this is the first time we drove home in two days.  With the COVID-19 thing, we used the bathroom, in the trailer at any stops.  I used latex gloves and mask when at pumps.  I had to go in the station one place when the pump wouldn't take the credit card and the clerk was wearing a face-mask.  That was the only person we saw with a face mask--none of the people at the pumps were wearing any.   Called ahead and reserved a Passport America park in Thackerville, OK.  Drove 577 miles on Friday.  Since we weren't going to get there until after office closed, we paid with credit card over phone and they left receipt and  map where we were to go.  Was a huge park, but only 2 other units there.  One, a motor home, we didn't see anyone outside.  They other, a trailer, looked like they were there a long time and had chairs and stuff outside and were sitting out, but some distance away.  Got there about 7 pm Friday night and left about 7:30 am on Saturday morning.  Drove 568 miles Saturday and got to the Airport here (where they have an RV dump) about 7:00 pm.  At the house and backed the trailer up to the garage where we could plug in the trailer to let the refrigerator continue running on electricity instead of the propane.

We ran the gamut for gas prices on the trip.  After paying $1.229 in the Valley we paid  $1.439; $1.599; $1.159; $1.299; $1.399; $1.599 and $1.469.  The highest price we saw was $1.709 right here in Clarinda.  Gas at station near Kenwood RV Park was $1.599 the morning we left there.

After weeks of 90 degree temperatures and 100 a couple days in the Valley, was a bit of a jolt this morning with the 55º temperature.

Been over 7 months since we were here in Iowa.  Now we spend 14 days in seclusion, even waiting for my doctor check-ups.

Well, is now 5:47 pm and I am finally finishing this up.  Dumped .2" of rain from rain gauge a bit ago.
Will write again when something happens.
