Activities at Kenwood RV Park

62 degrees with heavy overcast in La Feria -- got 1.5" of rain overnight.  Forecast had called for possible bad storms, but have not heard of any wind/hail damage.

Picture at breakfast one of the days
before Patty headed back to southwest
Iowa.

One of our Bougainvillea plants
trying to surround the
Prickly pear cactus in our
back yard.

A week ago we took money
at the Saturday Morning
Breakfast at the Rec Hall

Had a pretty good
turnout.  Vern had made up
some items - ham, Keish,
biscuits & gravy; then
took orders for eggs
prepared any way, as
well as pancakes.

Visited with Don Ferguson

This is Bougainvillea plants of Neher's, just
adjacent to us.

When we returned
from Mexico a week
ago Friday there was
one red tomato.
There are now two
that are turning.

We leave two weeks from
yesterday morning, so
the tomatoes better hurry
up.  Plan on wrapping
what green ones we can with
newspaper and take them
with us when we leave.

Yesterday, Friday March 18th was appreciation/fun day put on by corporate owners of Kenwood.

They held golf car races
and blind-fold golf cart
races around obstacle course
of pylons.

Three-wheeled bicycle races.

Was a very hot day; indoor
games were enjoyed
by many and the air-conditioning
was enjoyed by all.

This photo is a bit fuzzy, but the only one
I got of Don Ferguson making popcorn; with
the drinking water on ice beside him, this
was a popular spot.

 Phyllis did the blind-folded
transferring of cotton balls
from one bowl to another.

Back out in the sun there was a "cake-walk" where they just passed plates with numbers
on them and a card was drawn to determine
winner of cake each time the music stopped.
Mike, the activity director; Rosie, park manager; and Sandra, in housekeeping watch
the cake-walk.

Back out in the sun later was the water balloon toss.

Linda laid one on Orville that broke!

 These are photos
of Cindy, from Maintenance,
in the balloon toss.

She was quite animated.

After the 4:00 pm lunch of pulled pork, baked beans, and potato chips (which Phyllis & I and Darlene & Bill served buffet style) there was a short program awarding winners of the various events and games.  Then Phyllis gave the girls of the office and Cindy quilts for their kids that the Care and Share ladies had made.

 Last night we went
to the hall--for the first time--
for "Dime Bingo" at request
of Dick and Deanne Messer

Afterward we went to the Friendship Room and played "31" with this group -- a new game to us.

Phyllis is cleaning house as we are hosting a reception tonight for 60th wedding anniversary of our neighbors - Harold and LaRhoda Neher.  Quite a group of us are going to The Cattleman's Restaurant down towards San Benito before that reception.

More later, Lynn
