Back in Clarinda

66º here in Clarinda, IA which will be about the high for the day.  When we got home Saturday had about .4" rain in gauge.  This morning we had over an inch from storm that lasted much of the night after 1 am.

Friday evening we drove by our Grandaughter Emmy & husband Derek's soon to be house in Williamsburg, Iowa.  We, along with Cam, Patty & Emmy, ate pizza at Williiamsburg that evening for Cam's 61st birthday which was the day before.

Jessica and David with Emmy

We had gotten some furniture from Sister-in-Law Vicki's old apartment in Cape Girardeau and brought to Cam's for moving to Emmy's place in early May.  You can see the king sized bed here leaning against a wall.

Phyllis with Vicki in her new apartment

These photos are in Vicki's new apartment on the ground floor, same level as Don has been since a year ago last January.  She and Don had been on the first floor (#120) since early 2001.  Though it is the same floor, meaning not using the elevator, it is still some distance -- both Don & Vicki use wheel chairs fulltime.
This apartment is just one room with no kitchen (which Vicki hadn't used in years) is situated with large window looking north out onto parking lot near the lower entrance on the east side of the building at Chateau Girardeau.

We got new plants for her two large pots.

The second plant and pot

These two photos are taken in Don's room.

Don spends his time either in his bed or sitting near the dining room as in photos below.

We did eat with them and then play some Dominos on Thursday evening.

Though Don was basically non-verbal, he did seem to enjoy the Dominos and spoke a little---about whose turn, what numbers were needed, etc.

On Wednesday we drove, with Vicki, the 27 miles to the Jonesboro, Illinois, Cemetery for our annual placing flowers on Vicki's parent's, her son's, and  Don's daughter's gravestones.

We rented a U-Haul trailer in Cape Giraurdo to take the big bed, and other furniture to Marengo on Thursday.  They had two men help us load the larger items and we were all loaded up, including the back of the pickup, by afternoon on Thursday.  It was raining hard Friday morning when we pulled out and started the 387 mile journey to Marengo, IA.

After arriving at Cam's Friday afternoon, unloading the trailer, eating Pizza, visiting with Cam & Pat, the Granddaughters and Great Grandkids, spending  the night there we left Saturday morning, turned in the trailer at a U-Haul place in Grinnel, IA and we were in Clarinda sometime around 3 in the afternoon.

Got the pickup unloaded and I managed to get the yard mowed before dark.  Long day and long week!

Later, LCM
