67º here in La Feria, TX at 10:15 am Monday, predicted high of 81º. We are terribly dry here.
Had an interestiing drive Sunday afternoon. We decided to catch the performance of the RGV Gospel Singers, made up of many in our choir at First Methodist Church in Harlingen. As we were on I-2 almost to Harlingen my dash came on with a "Low Tire" emblem and noted 22 lbs. in one tire. I got off the freeway and stopped at a gas station. It was down to 19 lbs. They didn't have any service there but noted there were a couple tire shops north of them on that road. Of course, it was Sunday afternoon and the two Tire shops were closed. I realized we were only a little over a mile from Walmart and drove slowly there. Had 11 lbs. in the tire but was still not on the rim when we pulled up in front of the shop. Of course, it took some time for them to repair the tire (said there was a hole, presumably from a nail, and patched it) and was late enough we missed the Gospel performance. We drove to McAllen on Monday and Tuesday, each trip being some 60 miles round trip. On Wednesday I took the pickup in for oil change and rotate tires. They showed me a tire (same one) with a slice across the tread about 6 inches long and a piece of steel sticking out of the tire at the end of the slash, and didn't recommend putting it back on the pickkup. They put the 14-year old spare on (which had never been out from under the pickup). and recommended getting a new tire.
These tires were 70,000 mile Michellen tires from Pueblo and had about that many miles on them, but looked to have another 5 or 10 thousand miles tread left. I went back to Pueblo Tires, where I had gotten the tires a little over 4 years ago. They recommended, as I had read elswhere, that new tires be put on both sides. They pulled out the metal and discovered it was a blade of a box cutter. Apparently I had picked it up after leaving Walmart on Sunday! So, have two new tires. As we got out of the pickukp at a Subway restaurant last night I ended up with the handle in my hand -- the aluminum connecter between the handle and the door broken. Use the outside handle to get out. I have a new one coming in from Amazon on Monday and have watched a YouTube on replacing it. Pickup is back at Avila's Motor today to replace some gaskets on the oil plan and a connecting pipe for the cooling system. 190,000 miles and 14 years have some effect on things!Monday we helped with a luncheon to honor Dennis Bush with the Men & Women of A-Chord barbershop chorus as he is moving to a care facility in Austin, TX this month. He has sung in Barbershop since a youngster, and with this chorus since 1997.

Some 35 attended including spouses and friends as well as two chorus members who are not able to sing this year.
