Cold, hot, then cold. To be nice for Thanksgiving - at least forecast!

Donna looking much better than she
had been.
Well, it has been a few days since posted.  53º with light rain out now.  Had been 83º yesterday afternoon with bright sunshine when we drove to Harlingen to see neighbor Donna Montgomery at the Golden Palms Rehab center.

This odd black cloud showed up as we
were returning from Golden Palms

10 day forecast has a lot of "ups and downs"

Listening to the crackling fire as I type this blog.

I used some left-over flooring from Donna's bedroom to
cover some holes in the wall under her bedroom window.

Still have to paint the area to the right of the window and add
thin strips to cover a bit under the window.  Not orthodox, but it
covers the big holes that had been punched through the sheet rock.
This is what the wall looked like before I started working

View from Clarinda on Saturday, just to make us feel
bad that we aren't there enjoying the cold and snow!

Saturday, on a very warm day, between rain drops and sun
shine, I helped install new A/C condenser at a different location

Both these pictures taken off back steps
this is the old condenser that I will scrap out

New condenser has plenty of air around
it and should function better at this location

Early Saturday morning helped feed 36 people at our
first-of-the-year Saturday breakfasts

Had a pretty good turn out for the breakfast.  More people are arriving with there RV's every week.  Many more will be coming just before and then just after Thanksgiving.

Below - Saturday afternoon we went on a Breakaway Cruise along with many other Activity Directors from the Valley.  Usually has a good sunset, but was misty and cloudy for us that night.  Did have plenty to eat, especially good fresh shrimp.

Lot of 50's and 60's music played, which got a lot of the directors
in the mood for swaying about!
Phyllis is out with the boss this morning getting the turkeys, stuff for dressing and potatoes.  She, and some other ladies to help, will be working all day Wednesday on preparing that part which the RV Corporate pays for.  Everyone will bring their own service, a desert, and a side dish for the Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday at 12:30 pm.  She has lined up servers to help serve, also.  I think she has somewhere around 65 or 70 people signed up for the dinner.

GROANER’S CORNER:((  During a readiness exercise, my friend Jim and I, Air Force security policemen, were guarding entry to a bunker-like structure where aircraft were kept.  When a pilot about to do a preflight check approached without his identification in plain view, Jim asked him for it.  "I don't see why I have to show you my ID," the pilot snapped. "After all, it is my plane."  "Sir, with all due respect, it may be your plane," replied Jim, "but it is sitting in my garage!"

Having been married ten years and still living in an apartment, the wife would often complain about anything, as she was tired of saving every penny to buy a "dream home".Trying to placate her, the husband found a new apartment, within their budget. However, after the first week, she began complaining again.  "Johnathan," she said, "I don't like this place at all. There are no curtains in the bathroom. The neighbors can see me every time I take a bath.""Don't worry." replied her husband. "If the neighbors do see you I’m sure they will be the ones buying curtains."
