In Branson, MO

So, where you been?   Oh, it's me that hasn't been.  Got good WIFI tonight here in Branson, MO.  Just got back from Dolly Parton's Stampede.  Went mostly so we could see/hear the Goldwing Express, known here as the White River Wranglers, do the pre-stampede show.

Having trouble with computer, so won't upload any photos tonight.

Is raining hard right now at the Pea Patch RV just off 76 Highway in Branson at 8:50 pm.  If you have ever been in an RV with it raining you know it is loud -- looks like forecast is for it to rain all night and some tomorrow.  Hope to pull out early in the morning and head for Cape Girardeau, MO where will visit with my brother Don and his wife Vicki tomorrow evening and then Friday head to Marengo, IA in eastern Iowa for the weekend.

We spent two nights near Pawhuska, OK, leaving there this morning.  Visited the sales place (The Merecantile) of the Pioneer Woman, and then yesterday drove some 17 miles north on rock road into The Tallgrass Prairie Preserve  The Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is the largest (39,650 acres) protected remnant of tallgrass prairie left on earth. Due to urban sprawl and conversion to cropland, this ecoregion, originally spanning across 14 states from Texas to Minnesota, have left less than 4% remaining of this magnificent landscape. Since 1989, The Nature Conservancy in Oklahoma has proven successful at restoring this fully-functioning portion of the tallgrass prairie ecosystem with the use of 2,500 free-ranging bison and a "patch-burn" model approach to prescribed burning.   There was a visitor's center out there in the middle of nowhere and several volunteers giving info on the area.  Quite interesting.  Took a half-day to drive out and back and  the back of the pickup (inside the cap) really got dusty.

Also walked across a swinging bridge that was built in 1926 and re-worked in the 1970's.  Will show pictures later.

Today we had lunch with a cousin of Phyllis' - Don & Bessie Runyan - in Gravette, Arkansas.

More when have good WIFI, Lynn

Lots of Texas Blue Bonnets

This is for Bobbi Raab!

Lots of Texas Blue Bonnets
The whole Bluegrass Festival is a fund raiser for the Concho Valley Home for Girls, Children's
Emergency Shelter.  They had a lot of items on raffle and Phyllis won this shawl and
purse along with a jacket.  They had probably 100 items during the two-day event.  There were
many sponsors for the bands and lot of donated items.  Unfortunately, there were a lot of empty chairs.

Even the food was donated and all the sales from it was given to the girls school.

We ate three meals, different item each time, and was good food.
Ate a fine meal about 1:30 pm today at a family restaurant along I-20 and arrived here in Sanger, TX about 4:30 pm and have easy pull-thru needing no leveling, and no need to unhook.

More tomorrow, Lynn

In San Angelo, TX

46 degrees at 9:15 am here in San Anglo, TX.  Rained pretty hard in middle of night.

We left Kenwood just before 8 am Thursday, after spending the night in the trailer.  Turned out we didn't see anything that we missed packing for the inside of the trailer, but later found several things that I missed for setting up the trailer.  Went to a hardware store here and got a few items.
Driving Thursday over the relative flat-land and into the Hill Country of Texas.  Deviated a little from the route and stopped for a while in Bandera for lunch and a little walk-around.
Saw lots of Blue Bonnets, though they were hard
to photograph.  Also, lots of Musk Thistles among them.

Phyllis found a nice blouse on sale here.

Camped along a river at Ingram, TX

Got set up at a KOA in San Angelo, TX and then went to the Bluegrass Festival that is on Friday and Saturday.

Almost ready to roll -- in morning

77ยบ at 8:30 pm Wednesday - high was 91ยบ for the day with very strong south wind.

Headed west to Weslaco Pueblo Tire this morning and got all new ones for the trailer.
I was able to wash (with The Solution) and wax most of the trailer while they were changing the tires.  Got the part I couldn't reach when back at home and using the stepladder.

Put tape over the dryer vent when Phyllis was done drying clothes.  Have put insulation on all the windows of the house and the Texas Room.  Will put insulation in front door tomorrow.  We have everything moved into the trailer and will sleep there tonight.  That way the bed sheets have been washed and waiting for us this October.  And, if we think of anything overnight that we didn't get in the trailer or the back of the pickup can do in the morning.  Will also shut off water and all electricity except the air conditioner in the morning.

Back door covered.

More from the road, Lynn
