La Feria, TX 70 degrees
Several weeks ago Darlene Winslow asked me if I would do her a favor. Without even knowing what it was I said yes............then found out she wanted me to be part of a skit for St. Patrick's Day, in drag, along with several other guys from the park. Will maybe ask what the favor is before I say yes next time!

I was the "plain Jane" with dress designed by Waffle House, with waffles and "Brillo Pad" buttons.
Bill Martin wore this "House Coat" with photos of all sorts of houses on it.
John Crosby wore dress designed by Harlingen's Valley Morning Star
newspaper, and was made entirely out of yesterday's news.
Don Ferguson was decked out to go to the beach.
Harold Williams had a "Lipton Tea" dress, along with Toilet Paper hat and handbag.
Dave Keiper played the flower girl with a Gold Flour dress
Kevin Dacey was bridesmaid with a "hoop" dress, framed hat and flower fan.
Dave Gilmore was the much pregnant bride.
After each paraded on, and Dave Gilmore did a reading whereby he pointed
out a couple guys in the crowd how were at the party that he thought he
became pregnant, we all went back on stage and Ed Stanger auctioned off
each of our costumes. Money raised went to "Care & Share" a sewing
program the ladies work on each Thursday in the park.
One of the "Care & Share" workers
Theresa Van Oenen, from Ontario, Canada, had made and donated a quilt which was auctioned off. It brought $400.
One of Lola Schoppe's throw rugs was auctioned
And, a wall hanging made by one of the ladies was auctioned.
All the money went to the funds to keep the "Care and Share" ladies making quilts during the winter.
Last night we had a free soup supper, cleaning out the kitchen for the season. Everyone was filled with either Ham and Bean soup, Turkey Noodle soup, or potato soup. I tried all three and they were all winners!
Jake and Helen Ferguson were honored for the 15 years they have been a part of the park. They are from Broken Bow, NE and have sold their unit so will be spending the winters up north now.
Last night we still had enough people to play bean bag baseball. Many are leaving each day and it is anticipated vast majority will be heading home by April 1st.
While Phyllis has been working every free moment on a quilt for LaRhoda, I have spent my time getting the Texas Room enclosed for the summer. Just put trim on the front yesterday. Will get the trim on west wall windows and then finish area on the platform before we head home.

The Ides of March 2015
La Feria, TX 61ยบ with rain.
Sunrise at Kenwood RV Park in La Feria, Texas in March of 2015
Phyllis working on quilt, and eying the TV.
Wood carvers working on their projects.
West wall sided and painted. Still have to cover small space just under roof -- went to Harbor Freight in Brownsville, TX today and got a metal brake to bend metal to fit under roof, over windows. Then trim to be put on.
Sun Communities owns our Kenwood RV Park and they put on a catered appreciation meal and thank you to all who helped during the year.
Harold Williams and Jake Ferguson served ice cream along with the birthday cake honoring all who will have birthdays March thru October of this year.
Phyllis was in charge of putting on breakfast this Saturday. She bought the 15 dozen eggs, bunches of potato patties, 5 gallon of orange juice, sausage, biscuits, and gravy mix on Friday.
Diane, Pat, Dave and Phyllis working on the eggs, potato cakes, and biscuits.
Phyllis checking on the eggs,
3 pans ready
Serving line.
Coffee and orange juice.
Served some 60 people.
Friday afternoons the "Veggie Man" always draws a good crowd.
Lots of visiting, as well as people getting their veggies. He always has pineapple, which he cores, tomatoes, jicamas, watermelon, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes, cucumbers, avocados, beats, radishes, broccoli, peppers, oranges, onions, and other stuff.
Lots of people leaving the park, heading home. The Connelleys are back in Kansas, McConnells heading for Minnesota, the couple from Beatrice, NE left yesterday, Lavon Shaeffer and his wife headed back to Kansas City, Parkers left yesterday for Kansas City, Lolo headed for Iowa, much of the east end of the south side--mostly class A's has cleared out. By end of March, which is only a couple weeks away, majority will be heading north. We intend to leave March 31st and head for home via Cape Girardeau, MO, Marengo, IA and Walcott, IA.
Phyllis had a new outfit on Sunday.
Winslows went with us as we drove to Brownsville for lunch Sunday at Dirty Al's and then got some stuff at the Harbor Freight Store in Brownsville.

52nd Wedding Anniversary
La Feria, Texas - 57 degrees with rain.
Tuesday, March 10th, was our 52nd Wedding Anniversary.
Twila and Bill Oberholser visited with us for a while Monday afternoon.
They spent the winter in their 5th wheel here in Kenwood and left on
Tuesday morning for an RV Park near Pensacola, FL, visiting with her
brother in Houston on the way. Twila had been in charge of providing and
serving cakes for the break in the Bluegrass Jam on Tuesdays. Phyllis
will finish out the month of March for her.
Played Manipulation at Winslow's with the Neher's. Harold had a new card holder to help him.
Carl Pingleton got a three-wheeler and was out on it in front of our place the other day.
Marti McCormick wasn't too excited about my taking her picture. She really isn't as mean as she looks in the photo.
Tuesday, March 10th, was our 52nd Wedding Anniversary. We both had appointments with the dermatologist in the morning, ate lunch at the house and I worked on the Texas Room all afternoon. Phyllis continued working on the quilt for LaRhoda. In the evening we went couple houses down to Lavin and Jim Boozer (From Kell, IL) and played Pegs & Jokers with them and Bill & Darlene Winslow (From West Branch, MI) At right is Phyllis, Jim and Darlene.
At right - Lavin and Bill
At right - Jim, Darlene, and Lynn
Went down to the Rec Hall Tuesday to help serve coffee while Phyllis and Darlene served the cakes at Bluegrass Jam break; Don Ferguson showed up to serve the coffee so I headed back to working on the Texas Room.
Sat in on the Jam for a while and took these photos.
Had the French Doors delivered today and got it installed and the storm door on the north end of the steps nearly installed. Put up some scrap boards to fill in the walls temporarily with nasty day of wind and rain all afternoon. Have to get the door knobs and locks.
Photo at left shows the door at the top of the landing. Will put ceiling insulation up tomorrow.
Phyllis went to the Red Hat lunch at noon. Think there were only 12 or so there.
Many have been leaving the park since the first of March. In the next couple weeks there will be lots more leave. We plan to head north on the 31st.
