Finishing the week

I am not happy with Blogger that controls what I am typing and putting pictures in, but will try again.

We were at State Center with the Kenwood group most of last week.  The official "party" didn't start until Tuesday supper, but many showed up Sunday and more Monday.  Had a hot dog roast Monday night that Ed Stanger provided along with watermelon.
Ed is on the right side of this picture, getting ready to
put the "dogs" on.

Ed had left his home in Independence, MO Monday morning with one of his sisters attending their 97 year old mother who was in the hospital and not in good condition.  Ed was called at 5:30 the next morning and asked whether they should put her on life support as she had taken a turn for the worse.  He had them do that until he got there, and left, with his trailer in tow, immediately.  She was taken off life support that afternoon and passed away.  Ed's wife Kaye had passed only about 6 months ago -- he is having a rough go.
Tuesday morning several of us drove, with Lola, to one of her farms and picked sweet corn for the week.

As people came in Tuesday there was a lot of
visiting, Pegs & Joker playing, and finally a lot of eating.  Jerry & Dick Messer cooked the sweet corn outside on a portable cooker and everyone enjoyed the sweet corn along with other food shared.

Ed Stanger had left early Tuesday and I hadn't gotten a good photo of him.  Bill & Twila Oberholzer weren't available at time of the group photo but came shortly after and I had them pose.  I will add these two photos to the group photo when I get home to the computer that has Photoshop on it.

Panorama pictures showing the units that stayed at the building of Lola's.  Several came for a day, or meal, and many stayed in motels in Marshalltown.

Thursday many of us drove to Boone to eat at the Pizza Ranch and then went to the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad for a one and a half-hour trip from Boone almost to Fraser, IA and back.

We rode in car similar to the green car

After the train ride we got a chance to visit with Phyllis' cousin Marilyn in a nursing home there in Boone

After our final breakfast Friday we drove to the Meskwawki Bingo Casino near Tama and got a spot in the RV Park.  We went to the 1 pm Powwow about 4 miles south of the casino with Jerry & Lillian Witt.

We came to Marengo on Saturday morning.  Granddaughter Jessica arrived a bit later and is with her Grandpa here.

Here I am

Wednesday I mowed the yard for the first time in over 2 weeks.
90 degrees outside here in Clarinda, IA at 5 pm Saturday.  Has been overcast and trying to rain, but nothing happened, at least here.
Getting some moisture inside the refrigerator.  Took off the
back cover and cleaned up these fins, but didn't find anything
that might be the cause.  Blew air up two separate drainage
hoses but don't think it cleared out any plugged stuff.

These "Naked Lady" flowers are blooming right now.

An unexposed "Naked Lady"

Got a few of these books read, but most still need read.

Finally upgrading my computer to a new one with Windows 10

Have the trailer ready to leave in the morning.

This is 10 day forecast for State Center, Iowa, where we will be from Sunday till the following Friday.
Doesn't look too bad for high temps -- week ago they were predicting in the mid 90's.
Overcast and cool enough at noon so ate lunch on the patio.  Got the trailer hooked up and moved in front of garage where finished loading it and the pickup, ready to pull out in the morning for the week long get together at State Center, IA of the Kenwood RV Park Midwest folks.

Old Custer County, Nebraska pictures

These photos are all from Custer County, Nebraska - where I grew up - but were taken before I grew up, I assume in the late 1800's, or maybe early 1900's.

I don't know any of the people or locations, but think they are interesting pictures.

Photos from 1970's

Some photos from mid 1970's on the farm/ranch where I grew up in Custer County, Nebraska.  Dad loved the cattle he worked with every day.
