Hot in Schuyler, NE at Kenaston Country Music Show

91º F / 33º C with high humidity here in Schuyler, NE at 11:30 am on Saturday. Predicted high here of 93.  Was hot yesterday at the outside stage and they have cancelled outdoor entertainment and will commence in the really air conditioned Oak Ballroom at 3 pm with all activities today to be in that ballroom.  Is like an iceberg in there except to the people dancing.

Really enjoyed this group from Bonner Springs, KS.  They sound like the Sons of the Pioneers, singing and talking cowboy talk..

At right - Mia Heyden from Basset, NE, Johnny Butten and Vanessa Kenaston from Springview, NE
At left - Molly Magill from Arnold, NE and her mother Mary Channer Paul from Fullerton, NE

On the right - Dale Eichor from Radio 540, KWMT in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  He did MC work and also played and sang guitar with a couple groups.

On left - Jacob Austin Band Jacob, with the long hair and his mother and father form the band. from Anderson, Texas

At right - in the Oak Ballroom, Justin Trevino in the center from Brady, TX, with the Kenaston Band from the sandhills of Nebraska.

They had this sign on the outdoor stage.

We consider Terry Smith as a friend and have been with him off and on for the last 10 years or so.  He passed away this winter.  He was always to the Kenaston Country Music show, first in Wahoo and then in Schuyler.  Miss him and his music.  He wrote many songs, including "The Far Side Banks of Jordan".

Changing the subject here, but do you notice any difference in this guy in 66 years?

Will sign off for now and post some more when we get home and back on good WIFI.  Nebraska is not friendly to our T-Mobile phones.

Rain in northeast Nebraska

81º F - 27º C here in Schuyler, NE at 11:30 am Wednesday.  Rained hard with lightning and thunder during the night.  If you have ever been in an RV in a rainstorm you know that you are quite aware of the rain, thunder, etc.

Yesterday we drove some 60 miles north to Norfolk and spent time with Phyllis's cousin Gwen Runyan Stanley.  Visiting her was here nephew Lloyd Runyan from New Orleans.  He had been at the LSU championship game at the College World Series in Omaha and was flying back yesterday afternoon.

Had a good visit and Lloyd caught up on a bunch of relatives by going through books with Phyllis & Gwen.

We drove all the way to Norfolk in heavy fog.  Coming back after lunch we were in light rain until Columbus and then bright sunshine.

Patty S. do you recognize this guy?  We stopped in Madison on the way back from Norfolk and visited a bit with John Orlowski.  He said he quit square dance calling in 2013 as just had too many irons in the fire with his work and racing and the boys.  He recognized us right off and we had a nice 20-minute or so visit.

Here is map of our travels the last 4 days.  Haven't started the pickup yet, and won't until closer to 4:30 and just to an uptown spot for supper and entertainment.  The full-blown entertainment starts tomorrow.

Couple photos from last evening at the Golf Course Cafe - Champs - where we had supper and listened to several of the entertainers that will be here all week.

Will sign off for now, Lynn

Rainy in Schuyler, Nebraska

73 degrees with heavy overcast here in Schuyler, NE at 5;30 pm Monday. Drove in rain this morning and rain is predicted for the next two days.  Beats the 98 degrees we had the last few days.

This morning we drove about 50 miles east and a little north to near Blair, NE to visit a classmate of mine from Callaway, Nebraska High School class of 1961 at her farmhouse.  Hadn't seen her for a couple years and we caught up on each other's lives.

Yesterday we drove some 80 miles to Lincoln and had lunch with my brother Roger and his wife Carolyn.  Had a good visit on a very hot day.  I think the temperature was near 99 degrees

On Saturday we drove the 65 miles to west part of Omaha to attend wedding of Phyllis' sister Beth's granddaughter Ann Gregory to Alex Eiseman.  Was super hot that day and high winds out of the south, as it had been for several days.  Wedding was in Catholic church and then later their reception was at Tiberon Golf Club

I took this picture as Chris & Ann started down the aisle, then was informed photography was not allowed.

Schedule

In addition to the printed schedule, the Bill Baker's Big Band from the Netherlands performed Sunday afternoon at the Glenn Miller Birthplace Museum.

A few photos taken at the commons area of the high school where meals were served by different caterers in Clarinda

On Sunday, before taking our three guys to perform at the Museum, we went several miles south of Clarinda where this Glenn Miller Sign had been constructed several years ago for some pictures.

Maarten was holding his guitar up to Glenn, but I didn't get the whole sign framed in my photo.
