64 degrees as I write.
Was raining early this morning -- pretty good downpour.
When we left about 9:30 am puddles were around the trailer.
Drove back to the Wild Center and watched a couple more movies--Entrance fee paid yesterday was good for two days.
Drove as far south (about 60 miles) as Long Lake, New York.
Lots of beautiful tree, lake, and river scenery.
We went across near the origin of the Hudson River which gets to the Atlantic Ocean at New York City.
Spent some time at Environment, Science and Forestry Interpretive Center on the way back to our campsite.
Sun was out, though still a bit chilly, in the afternoon when we got back so dumped tanks and got ready to pull out early in the morning. Will go north-east to Plattsburgh, NY and then south-east to Montpelier, VT where we will tour the Capital, go to Morse Maple Farm and then to a campground just east of there.

The Wild Center & Lake Placid, NY in the Adirondacks
Had a little shower earlier this afternoon.
Spent our time today at the the Wild Center.
The Wild Center just opened the new Wild Walk on July 4th this year -- a walk in the tree tops.
With many placards describing the wild life and plants around the area, they also had one huge man-made tree stump with a number of exhibits in the hollow center.
These are all pretty much self-explanatory.
These bears (with much sound effects) were at the base of the tree.
At the point of one of the set of supports were a couple hanging seats.
Replica of a 10 foot Bald Eagle nest found someplace - to be the largest ever found.
Top of this tree has unusually large amount of Pine Cones in it -- referred to by the sign above.
We walked a mile trail down to the Racquet River where they had two different overlook areas of an oxbow in the river.
On the trail down to the river.
They had a huge inside display, many of them set up for kids to interact with.
An otter seemed to enjoy entertaining the people with his swimming, diving and swooping near the glass.
In a different tank, I think this is a rainbow trout.
A large moose.
Of course, there was a gift shop where you could buy lots of books, clothing, and these odd characters...................................................
We drove a few miles east and stopped at a roadside bar and grill for lunch, then continued on toward Lake Placid where the Winter Olympics of 1932 and 1980 were held. Click Here for Lake Placid site.
We took, combined, close to 400 photos. I have them on my Picasa at CLICK HERE
if you wish to look at them.
There are way too many to bring here. Have tried to describe most of them.
Was threat of rain this morning, but only showered a little late this afternoon. Tomorrow is forecast for some rain. We will probably not drive too far tomorrow (80 miles today in a lot of mountains - up and down a little over 1000 feet in all the driving). Maybe go swimming in the pond here - they have a big beach which was really busy Sunday when we came in, but most of the families have left now.

In Adirondack State Park - on Tupper Lake
73 degrees here on Little Wolf Pond, near Tuppe Lake.
Enjoyed our weekend with Phyllis' cousin (their moms were sisters) Katie Johnston, her husband Randy, their daughter Angela and grandson Jase at their place near Watertown, New York
Left Katie & Randy Johnston's place about 3 pm and got here around 5:30 pm. A very crowded park - trailers with 10 feet of space between them - 3 rows. We are 2nd row in from the water. Lots of families, activity, radios, etc.
We are not to far from the Wild Walk and about 40 miles from Lake Placid, NY where the Winter Olympics were held several years ago.
Had nice visits with the Johnstons.
Tired, so will turn in and see what tomorrow brings.

Sackets Harbor, New York
Near Watertown, NY 59 degrees at 6:30 am Eastern Daylight Time
Last night the sun was setting in the west and these clouds, north and to the east collected a lot of light.
Don't know how high they are, but are enormous in size.
We had spent much of the afternoon at Sackets Harbor, NY
Sackets Harbor (Click Here)
just to the east about 8 miles from where we are set up in yard of Randy and Katie Johnston.
Several times during the summer they do re-enactments of battles of the War of 1812 which this area played an important part in keeping the British from getting a foothold in the US. This was the same war when the British did march to Washington and burned the White House.
It was in the 80's and in the direct sunlight was quite warm -- these guys in their woolen suits were a bit warm!
One guy had gone all out to look like an Indian of that era.
All the participants, and their wives, were living for the weekend in a tent camp on site.
We walked several blocks away from the harbor and spent an enjoyable hour or so at the Seaway Trail Discovery Center. Battles between US and British were quite important at this area and were described in detail.
Though I took a hundred photos of the displays about the 1812 War era, won't post them here.
Last night we drove the 8 miles into Watertown and ate supper at Friendly's Ice Cream & Restaurant. At right is Katie, Phyllis, Jase, and Angela. Jase is Angela's son and Angela is Katie's daughter.
More later, Lynn
