"Paint" by numbers - on the smartphone

Recent weeks I got into several apps of paint by numbers and Phyllis also picked up on it.  Our phones are tied together, so saved pictures are from both.

Is a relaxing thing to do and satisfying, too.  Most have well over a hundred numbers, some into the two hundreds.

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

'In honor of this holy season' Saint Peter said, 'You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.'

The Englishman fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. 'It's a candle', he said.

'You may pass through the pearly gates' Saint Peter said.

The Scotsman reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, 'They're bells.'

Saint Peter said 'You may pass through the pearly gates'.

The Irishman started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women's panties.

St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, 'And just what do those symbolize?'

The paddy replied, 'These are Carols.'

And So The Christmas Season Begins......

Week before Christmas of 2024

 7:00 pm Tuesday

Been hectic, it seems, keeping up with activities here in the park, church choir and Barbershop Chorus.

Christmas Cantata practice with the small
orchestra on Saturday morning.
Last Sunday we did Christmas Cantata during two services - here is link to second service: Click HERE

and here is link to first service - Click HERE

In Harlingen, after the church service at 9:00 am we had a brunch in the church basement and then repeated our Cantata at the 11:00 am service.

By 2:45 pm Sunday afternoon we had driven some 35 miles west and after helping set up the portable risers and doing a warm up with the Men & Women of A-Chord Barbershop Chorus we did an hour performance at 4:00 pm for the First Presbyterian Church in Mission, Texas .

After the performance we called Doris Winters and picked her up from her RV Park and went to Golden Chick to eat.  Spent a few hours visiting.  We had not seen her since last winter.  She and her husband Lyle were in our park when we came here in 2009.  They did move to another park further west several years ago but we have kept in touch with them.  Lyle passed away with Covid-19 in 2020 or 2021 but Doris continues to come south.  We had visited them many times on their farm near Broward, MN over the years.

Played a few Shuffleboard games this morning.

Was back in McAllen, TX this afternoon for practice with the Barbershop group.

Got these nice photos from
my Florida brother today.

All for now.

Hope all are well and have a Merry Christmas

Cold (for south Texas) day

62º and chilly here in Kenwood RV in La Feria, TX at 5:30 pm Saturday as I start this.  Had been raining last day or so, but was just overcast all day today--chilly north wind all day.  Haven't heard any official reading, but I would guess we got between one and two inches of rain.

There was an all-park yard sale today and we had a few things out.

Last Monday most of the barbershop chorus, with spouses, gathered at noon at Italian Restaurant Bella Mia's in McAllen.  Director Bob Lemkuil, below, had celebrated his 88th birthday on Thanksgiving Day--just after he had knee replacement surgery and he had asked for this gathering.

Bob only missed one practice, and was leading us this Tuesday, though someone brought a wheel chair so he could maneuver around some while directing.

Must put in here a few of the more than a dozen pictures I have "painted by number" on the phone.

The Bougenvelia bushes in our back yard have been brilliant and I have been replenishing the flower vases every few days.

Phyllis has been putting out Christmas decorations.

Several more of the "regulars" have arrived at the park this last week.

We sing in the church choir tomorrow morning, have barbershop chorus practice 30 miles west of here on Tuesday, church choir practice Wednesday evening which will be a little longer as we practice for the Christmas Cantata we will be performing in at both services next Sunday, the 15th.  Then in the afternoon of the 15th we perform with the barbershop chorus in Mission, TX, some 35 miles west of La Feria.  Glad I have got my voice back that I lost a couple weeks ago!

Had a "crowd" of 10 people at the first park pot-luck on Wednesday night.

Take care, and keep in touch with us of what you are doing.  Lynn
