GROANER’S CORNER:(( A priest and a rabbi operated a church and a synagogue across the street from each other. Since their schedules intertwined, they decided to go in together to buy a car. After the purchase, they drove it home and parked it on the street between them.  A few minutes later, the rabbi looked out and saw the priest sprinkling water on their new car. It didn't need a wash, so he hurried out and asked the priest what he was doing.  "I'm blessing it," the priest replied. The rabbi considered this a moment, then went back inside the synagogue.
He reappeared a moment later with a hacksaw, walked over to the back of the car and cut off two inches of the tailpipe.

GROANERS CORNER:((  During his physical, the doctor asked the patient about his daily activity level.  His patient described a typical day this way: 'Well, yesterday afternoon, I waded along the edge of a lake, drank eight beers, escaped from wild dogs in the heavy brush, jumped away from an aggressive rattlesnake, marched up and down several rocky hills, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out of quicksand and took four leaks behind big trees.' Inspired by the story, the doctor said, 'You must be one hell of an outdoors man!' 'NAH,' he replied, 'I'm just a crappy golfer.'

An elderly couple were driving across the country. The woman was driving when she got pulled over by the highway patrol. The officer said, “Ma’am did you know you were speeding?” The woman, hard of hearing, turns to her husband and asks, “What did he say?” The old man yells, “He says you were speeding!” The patrolman says, “May I see your license?” The woman turns to her husband and asks again, “What did he say?” The old man yells, “He wants to see your license!” The woman gave the officer her license. The patrolman says, “I see you are from Arkansas. I spent some time there once and went on a blind date with the ugliest woman I’ve ever seen.” The woman turned to her husband and asked, “What did he say?” And the old man yells, “He said he knows you!”

At State Center for the Kenwood RV Park Midwest Summer Rally

76º here in State Center, Iowa at 4:35 pm Sunday as I start this.  Complete overcast all day, was as we got up at Lake Ahquabi State Park south of Indianola, IA this morning.

We are parked at the left - Jerry & Lillian Witt's unit to the right.
We pulled out of that park sometime around 9 am and was at Lola's campground here in State Center sometime after 11 am.  Both of us got set up in the spots we will be most of this week.  Bill Oberholzer, who is staying at the park this summer, came down and supervised us setting the units up then had lunch with us.

I took a nap and Phyllis visited with Lola, Bill, and Don & Linda Foote who showed up this afternoon while Jerry & Lillian went uptown to a laundromat to catch up on clothes washing.

GROANER’S CORNER:(( Jim and Mary were both patients in a Mental Hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom & stayed there. Mary promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out.  When the medical director became aware of Mary's heroic act he immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as he now considered her to be mentally stable.  When he went to tell Mary the news he said: "Mary, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged because since you were able to jump in and save the life of another patient, I think you've regained your senses. The bad news is, Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself with his bathrobe belt in the bathroom. I am so sorry, but he's dead."  Mary replied: "He didn't hang himself, I hung him up there to dry."

A tourist is traveling with a guide through one of the thickest jungles in South America, when he comes across an ancient Mayan temple. The tourist is entranced by the temple, and asks the guide for details. To this, the guide states that archaeologists are carrying out excavations, and still finding great treasures. The tourist then queries how old the temple is.  "This temple is 1503 years old", replies the guide.
Impressed at this accurate dating, he inquires as to how he gave this precise figure.  "Easy", replies the guide, "the archaeologists said the temple was 1500 years old, and that was three years ago"

Starting our summer vacation

69º here in Indianola, IA at 9:36 pm Saturday evening as I start this.  Has been overcast all day and almost had a mist a time or two.  We went to the John Wayne Museum and Birthplace house in Winterset this afternoon.

Tuesday I had helped men move the choir robe closets, music, small keyboard organ and the "Feed My Sheep" food from the old Methodist Church in Clarinda to the new one.

Phyllis' cousin Judy Heuer's husband Clay passed away last Sunday evening.  On Tuesday evening we attended the visitation and then on Wednesday morning the funeral here in Clarinda.  Clay had driven the county road maintainer for better than 30 years and someone drove it to lead the funeral processional  to the cemetery .

Wednesday afternoon our friends Jerry and Lillian Witt from Ohio parked their 5th wheel in our driveway.

We drove them around the area, showing them the town and where we used to live in  the country.

Thursday the four of us drove to Omaha and took a guided tour of SAC Air Force Museum.
Jerry Witt is on the left and wife Lillian on the right of  our guide who had flown several of these planes
in World War II and afterwards.  He told some pretty good stories of flights during the war.

Friday we both pulled our
trailers to south of Indianola, IA
and toured the National Balloon
Festival Museum.

Later in the afternoon we watched these three balloons
being filled with air.  -- they each had 8-10 people on board

One of the balloons with the big gondolas

Later many of the balloons were able to return to the field.

Phyllis, Lillian and Jerry, watching the balloons

They did a "night glow" after dark.
I tried uploading my first video to this blog and somehow it got to the top of the blog.  It is the night glow.
We returned to the balloon field today after touring the John Wayne museum and are back at the trailer.  Will both head to State Center, Iowa tomorrow morning.

A bad golfer goes: WHACK... "Damn!"
